High-speed Imaging (HSI) is the science of taking pictures of very fast phenomena. At Huladyne, I employ HSI mostly for artistic use and small-multiple visualizations, but I imagine a day where sensor data and HSI data will be fused to yield better insight into physical and mechanical systems.
In addition to the featured 9-Ball image above, below are additional examples of high-speed photographs I’ve captured in the lab. In an upcoming L•A•B•S article, I will explain some of the techniques I use to capture images. But for now, enjoy some of HSI’s artistic possibilities.
